International Piano-e-Competition

Up to sixty (60) contestants, selected by the Artistic Director from the submitted Application Recordings, will be invited to participate in the Disklavier/Video Recording. Sites around the world will be prepared for these auditions:

If selected, you will be asked to attend the site nearest you at a specified time and date. Your performance will be recorded on the Yamaha Disklavier grand piano. The performance will also be videotaped. These materials will be viewed by the Screening Jury Panel during the Virtual Auditions.

Disklavier/Video Recording REPERTOIRE: (not to exceed 20 minutes)
1. First Movement of a Classical Sonata (Beethoven, Clementi, Haydn or Mozart). Sonata used in the Application recording can be used.

2. One Virtuoso Etude by one of the following composers: Bartok, Chopin, Kapustin, Ligeti, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Moszkowski, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin or Stravinsky . Etude used in the Application recording can be used.

3. A work of contestant's choice (if admitted to the competition, the contestant may perform this work either in the First or the Second Round).

All repertoire must be performed from memory.

Virtual Audition:
A Screening Jury, headed by the Artistic Director (non-voting), will be assembled for this audition in March. The performances will be reproduced with the Yamaha Disklavier Pro concert grand piano and a large screen positioned on stage to hear and see each performance in its entirety. This Jury will select up to twenty-four (24) contestants who will be invited to come to the United States to participate in the e-Piano Junior.

These twenty-four contestants who come to Minneapolis/St. Paul will be reimbursed for the cost of economy class roundtrip air fare to Minneapolis/St. Paul from the country of their residence, or from any city in the U.S.A.(up to 500USD) The travel for the accompanying adult(s) will not be reimbursed. Those who choose not to come to Minnesota to compete will not receive any reimbursement. Accommodations and food will be provided to every one of 24 contestants and one accompanying adult per contestant throughout the duration of the competition..
