Special Presentation
In a Room With A Legend: Oscar Peterson in Re-Performance.
Pianist Oscar Peterson was one of history’s great jazz pianists. His phenomenal technique and lush playing style captivated audiences around the world. Classically trained, Peterson managed to do the seemingly impossible, playing syncopated octaves with his left hand while composing a melody with his right hand—the two hands working completely independent of one another. Peterson passed away in 2007, so those who missed out on the electrifying experience of hearing him play in person were simply out of luck. Until now.
Thanks to groundbreaking work by Zenph Sound Innovations, it is now possible to hear this legend play again live. Zenph Performance Analysts working with bleeding-edge technology precisely replicate every nuance, gesture, and key stroke that Peterson played. Those artistic gestures are captured as data and fed into a robotic piano to create spine-tingling re-performances.
Join presenter Shana Kirk of Zenph Sound Innovations for this unique concert experience and be one of the first audiences to hear the Oscar Peterson re-performance before the Sony Masterworks recording comes out on September 20.
