A piano student since age 6, Min Joo Yi has studied in Bellevue, Washington with Duane Hulbert since 2009. Now 17, Min Joo has earned awards from the Music Teachers National Association (2008 & 2010), the New York International Piano Competition (2010), and the International Institute for Young Musicians competition (2009). She received a scholarship to the Aspen Music Festival and School in 2010, and has performed with several orchestras in the Pacific Northwest and at major festivals in the U.S. Beyond piano performance, Min Joo enjoys drawing and has published illustrations in the youth magazine Stone Soup.
