About Mayuki:

Born in Hakodate, Japan in 2000, Mayuki Miyashita studied music at Yamaha Music Hamamatsu until moving to the U.S. in 2011.  Now a 9th grader, she continues her piano studies with Dr. David Northington at the University of Tennessee School of Music.  Mayuki won the 1st prize in Music Teachers National Association’s Tennessee state competitions in 2011, 2012 and 2014.  She won both the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition and Maryville Orchestra Concerto Competiton in 2012.  At age 13, she performed her first solo recital at the American Piano Gallery in Knoxville which lead to performance engagements requested by National Public Radio at the NPR Gala Concert in Boston and the radio broadcast series “From the Top”.  Mayuki has garnered major prizes in several international competitions and has performed in master classes for Krystian Tkaczewski and Byron Janis.  She has also created her own compositions and recently arranged one of the compositions for her school orchestra to perform in concert.
