About Ray:
Vancouver native Ray Zhang began his early lessons in Vancouver with Mrs. Fafan Xiao, and he has been studying under the direction of Dr. Sasha Starcevich in Bellevue, Washington since September 2016.

Ray has won numerous awards, such as the special young talent award in the 2018 Ettlingen international piano competition, multiple first prizes at the Canadian Music Competition, and is also a Gold Medalist of the Chopin Northwest International Competition.

Ray made his orchestral debut in Perugia, where he performed Mozart’s Concerto K.491 with the Alicante Symphony, and was invited back to perform with the orchestra the following year, playing Beethoven Concerto No.1. In 2018, at Music Fest Perugia, He performed the Mozart Piano Concerto K.456 with the Brunensis Virtuosi Orchestra and the Firenze Conservatory Orchestra. Ray plays in Canada and abroad. He has performed at Koerner Hall in Toronto, Canada, the Shanghai Oriental Art Center in China, and locally has participated in many fundraising concerts to support the Sarah McLachlan School of Music and the British Columbia Children Hospital. Ray performs regularly in senior centers in the Vancouver area. When he is not practicing piano, Ray enjoys reading, solving the Rubik’s cube, playing chess, and soccer.
